Capital Markets & Microfinance Supervision

The department carries out supervision of capital and securities markets, microfinance and financial cooperatives sectors. The supervisory objectives are to:

  • Protect the interests of investors, depositors and borrowers; and
  • Promote financial stability of the sectors.

The department conducts:

  • Prudential supervision of financial cooperatives and deposit taking microfinance institutions; and
  • Market conduct supervision of non-deposit microfinance institutions and intermediaries in the capital market, including securities exchanges, stock brokers/dealers, fund managers, transfer secretaries, investment advisors, collective investment schemes and the central securities depository.
