Overview

Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) are specialized financial institutions that focus on providing long-term financing to investors, and they do so using their own resources. Unlike commercial banks, DFIs do not collect public deposits. The supervision of DFIs is similar to that of commercial banks, and this oversight is conducted by the Bank Supervision Department. However, DFIs are subject to distinct capital requirements, which are tailored to the nature of their business and the sources of their funding. Additionally, DFIs have reporting requirements that differ from those applicable to banks, reflecting the unique characteristics of their operations.
