Chimwemwe boasts of a 23 year-strong background in supervision and regulation of financial institutions. She has served in various senior management positions within the financial sector regulation function in the Reserve Bank of Malawi, including as Director of Pension and Insurance Supervision. Prior to being appointed Director of Bank Supervision, she served as General Manager for the Reserve Bank of Malawi Pension Fund where she managed the delinking process of the Pension Fund from the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Chimwemwe is a change agent who through various committees has championed the development of risk-based supervision framework for banks and insurance companies; regulatory and supervisory frameworks for pension entities and insurance companies and corporate governance codes for banks & insurance companies in Malawi.
