Dr. Kisu Simwaka

Deputy Governor, Economics and Regulation

Kisu Simwaka is the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi responsible for Economics and Regulation. Previously, he has served as Director of Economic Policy and Research, and also Director of Financial Markers at the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Kisu has published articles in journals on economic policy issues ranging from economic growth, inflation, exchange rate, and trade issues. During February-April 2007, he was a Visiting Scholar at the IMF Headquarters in Washington DC under the IMF/AERC Visiting Scholars Programme. Furthermore, during April-June 2012, he was a Visiting Scholar at Centre for the Study of African Economies, University of Oxford under AERC/Journal of African Economies Visiting Scholars Programme.

Kisu holds a PhD in Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and Masters and Bachelors degrees in Economics from the University of Malawi.
